Japan's Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Miho Nonaka placed seventh and Ai Mori 11th in the women's boulder round of the Paris Olympics sport climbing semifinal Tuesday.
Tokyo gold medalist Janja Garnbret of Slovenia was the only climber to top all four problems at Le Bourget Climbing Venue and sits first on 99.6 points.
Nonaka scaled the first two and registered 64.4, with the top eight climbers, after combining the result from Thursday's lead round, to advance to Saturday's final.
"It gave me power, as expected. The energy level is amazing," Nonaka, who has dyed her hair the colors of the Olympic rings, said of the crowd's support compared to the spectator-less Tokyo Games three summers ago.
"There is absolutely no moment I let up. I was intent on giving my all from the very start."
Oriane Bertone of France was second on 84.5 and Brooke Raboutou of the United States third on 83.7 after both topped three, while lead expert and Olympics debutant Mori topped two en route to a 54.0.
The sport was competed in a combined format also in Tokyo, but in Paris the speed discipline has been separated into its own event.
