Shohei Ohtani went deep for the second straight game and for the 37th time this season as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-2 on Tuesday, winning their fifth straight.
Ohtani pulled a 1-0 splitter in the middle of the zone off Colin Rea (10-4) in the third inning, sending it to the second deck at American Family Field for a solo shot and a 2-0 lead. Will Smith had also homered in the second to put the Dodgers on the board.
William Contreras, like Ohtani, homered for the second game in a row for the Brewers, making it a 2-1 game in the bottom of the third. But the Dodgers scored five runs in the fourth with Gavin Lux and Andy Pages both getting two-run homers.
Yusei Kikuchi allowed a run on three hits over 5-2/3 innings to earn the win as the Houston Astros downed the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2.
Kikuchi (6-9) struck out five and had three 1-2-3 innings at Tropicana Field, where he gave up the opening run in the second on a Josh Lowe RBI single. The Astros tied in the third before Alex Bragman in the fifth and Jeremy Pena in the sixth had solo shots.
"(Houston) is a watertight team with its batting order, defense and base running, so my role is to set the tone of the game by giving up as few runs as possible," said Kikuchi, who joined in a trade from the Toronto Blue Jays in late July.
