Japan will host the World Exposition for the third time in the event's 170-year history in 2025, with the international fair expected to draw more than 20 million visitors from around the world.

Held from April 13 to Oct. 13 on an artificial island in the city of Osaka, the Japanese government and private sector as well as a total of 161 countries and regions are among those planning exhibitions at pavilions.

Themed "Designing Future Society for Our Lives," the expo is expected to be a showcase for cutting-edge technology from around the world which will enable the sharing of ideas aimed at resolving global issues.

Japan previously hosted the global event in 1970 in Osaka Prefecture and in 2005 in Aichi Prefecture, central Japan. In the upcoming expo, a huge wooden roof dubbed the "Grand Ring" with a circumference of 2 kilometers, which makes it one of the largest wooden structures in the world, will be the symbol of the venue.
