Bryn Gatland scored a try and kicked four conversions as Kobe Steelers eased to a 43-14 win over Sagamihara Dynaboars in the Japan Rugby League One first division on Sunday.

The 28-year-old flyhalf from New Zealand got his fifth try in the last four games in the 15th minute before adding the extras for a 12-0 lead, setting the visitors, fourth in Division 1, on the way to their fourth straight win.

Seven different players scored in the bonus-point win, with Tiennan Costley, Michael Little, Takara Imamura and Waisake Raratubua all crossing by the break, when the Steelers led 31-7.

Daiki Nakajima went over before Japan's 2019 World Cup star center Timothy Lafaele had his first try of the season late in the second half to complete the scoring against the Dynaboars, who got tries from Satoshi Koizumi and Jackson Hemopo.

In the day's other game, Mie Heat remained winless in nine matches, losing 24-14 to fellow strugglers Black Rams Tokyo, who recorded their second win.
